First, note that these drawings are not meant to be “booty” style shorts. We originally toyed with the idea, which is why these first renderings look that way, but an overwhelming majority of women we’ve spoken to said that they prefer a more baggy style of short. Our revised designs will have similar lines, but will look like a more traditional style running short. So here they are, our first sketches of the women’s merino wool running short.
A few things we’ve been thinking about:
Keeping the Merino Wool next to skin – You’ll notice that in all of our designs, the outer layer features a stretch woven outer layer and a merino wool inner layer. It’s a 2 in 1 short, if you will. Our objective here was to create a product that always kept merino next to skin, but gives you the benefits of a quick recovery and stretchy outer layer of a traditional running short.
Soft waistbands with “hidden” pockets- In all of the product conversations we’ve had, this is the one short feature that has stood out as a “must.” We like them because they reduce chafing and provide no-bounce storage for things like gels and keys.
Compression Liner- We are toying with the idea of a compression liner, rather than a traditional brief style liner. This compression liner wouldn’t be long or overly tight, but enough to support muscle structure.
Gel storage – How many gels do you normall carry on a run? Do you store them in your shorts, a belt, or a shirt?
